Tarot and Oracle Cards

Tarot cards and Oracle cards have gained in popularity over the last couple of years. We have many decks and deck and book sets available. The sets are particularly good if you are new to tarot, or if you are considering a new deck to add to your existing repertoire. For beginners a deck set is a particularly good way to start as the guide book is dedicated to that particular deck and will show all the names and meanings of card, how they relate to other cards and how to lay out a spread.

The Beginner’s Guide to Tarot by Juliette Sharman-Burke, illustrated by Giovanni Caselli is one we recommend as a first deck in the shop as it is designed specifically with the novice reader in mind.

It is based on the Rider-Waite deck which was ground-breaking in its day. The occultist A E Waite had the idea for both the major and minor arcana to be fully pictorial. Up until this point the minor arcana resembled a pack of playing cards.

The RiderThe Rider Waite deck is also becoming known as the Smith Waite deck. Finally acknowledging the artwork of Pamela Coleman-Smith. Just over 100 years after its publication. It is one of our most popular decks. We sell mainly the cards only, because many books about tarot use this deck for the imagery.
